Christmas reading!

Firstly, I hope you all had an amazing christmas and secondly I wanted to share a couple of exciting books that I received for christmas. I also received other amazing gifts including: zoella beauty, a jawbone UP, beauty sets and more which I may share and review in the future but for now heres my little book summary.
You may have noticed, but the infinite sea in comparison is defiantly a much shorter book.
(The 5th wave in hardback, The infinite sea in paperback)

This year I asked for the 5th wave series (there are only 2 so far with a third of its way!), and I was very excited to receive them. I started the 5th wave on boxing day and read up to page 100 and I thought I would share a summary and a few thoughts from the book.
So far the book seems different from others I've read and it starts with a girl named Cassie. She has survived the '4th wave' in which she learns to never trust anyone, although she believes that theres the chance that she is the last human on earth, with only the 'aliens' left to demolish the small remains of life. The '5th wave' is yet to come which is what I would expect to be reading soon. As so far from what I have read,  the novel starts with her after the 4th wave but does rewind back to the past and discusses how she became what she believes the 'last human',  in which you learn about her family and how she became separated from them.
Overall I am very keen to pick up the book again tonight and read some more. Its defiantly looking great so far.

Festive cupcakes!

With only 6 days till Christmas to go. I decided to do some rather festive baking! I received some very cute Christmas themed cupcake cases and some little odd looking toppers to place on top of them!

The recipe that I used is one that I love, and have used for years. It simply consists of:
6oz butter
6oz sugar
2 eggs
6oz self raising flour
A dash of vanilla essence

To make these just simply whisk the sugar and butter, add the eggs individually, stir in the flour and add the vanilla.
I left them in the oven for around 15 minutes at 180 degrees.

After taking them out the oven they, as always smelt amazing and I used some betty crockers chocolate icing (which tastes amazing btw!) on top, then added the little toppers later to make them even more festive!

Overall these tasted amazing and Baking is one of my favourite things to do in my spare time! Especially when I feeling very festive. Next time I make these I definitely want to put mini candy canes on the cakes to make them look even cuter :)
